GETTING AROUND SINGAPORE

Train (MRT)

The Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) in Singapore is a modern, air-conditioned passenger train service with stations all over the island. There are three main lines – the North-South line from Marina Bay to Jurong East, the East-West line from Changi Airport/Pasir Ris to Boon Lay, and the North-East line from Harbour Front to Punggol.

Frequency: Trains operate at intervals of between two and a half minutes and eight minutes from 0530 hrs until 0030 hrs daily. Check at respective MRT stations for precise train arrival/departure timings.

Fares: Travelling on the MRT is cheap, with rides ranging from SGD 0.80 to a maximum of SGD 1.70. The Changi Airport. MRT Station is located under Terminals 2 and 3, and is linked to the arrivals and departures by escalators and lifts. The first train arrives at around 0530hr and the last leaves at 2318hr. A single fare to the city costs about S$2.70 (inclusive of S$1.00 refundable deposit) and takes approximately 27 minutes. Tickets are available at the station. Taxi

All taxis are metered. You can call for a cab from any of the taxi firms with just one convenient number. Just call (+65) 6-3425-222 or tap out the alphabetical prompter 6-DIAL-CAB, and you will be channeled to all the taxi firms’ call centres, one at a time. Taxis will stop at taxi pick-up points at the Arrival levels. The journey to city is estimated to cost between S$18.00 and S$38.00 and takes approximately 30 minutes.

Airport Shuttles, Limousine Taxis & Large Taxis

The Ground Transport Desk offers Changi’s passengers a variety of transport modes ranging from budgetary to luxurious premium airport transfers to your destination in Singapore. Our transport fleets are sized at 4 seaters (Limousines), 7 seaters (Large Taxis) and 9 seaters (Airport Shuttle Buses) to suit you and your travelling companions’ needs. Whether you are a seasoned backpacker, a family of 4 - 5 travelling or in town for a business trip, we welcome you to approach our friendly service staffs for the most viable ground transport option.

Bus Services

For maximum freedom, buy an ez-link card and hop onto a bus! The ez-link card can also be used on the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT). SBS Transit bus 36 runs between Orchard Road and Singapore Changi Airport. The public bus stations are located in Terminal 1 at Basement 2, and in Terminal 2 at Basement Level. Details of bus routes and fares are displayed at bus stations.
